A Brief History of "The Pen"... Back in 1989 I had a several great ideas for stories.  I asked my sister 15 years later if she wanted to write a story with me. She agreed and chose "The Pen". She thought it would be better in medieval times. She later could not continue so I asked Ed if he wanted to write a story together. He said, "Sure, I've got nothing else to do."  The rest is history.  Below are a couple of synopsis', a tagline and a short excerpt.

INT. Winding castle hallway - DAY
Voices increase in volume as the camera travels though the hallway to a large office like room in a castle; circa 1485.  An argument is taking place between two men;
SIR THOMAS RUSTON and LORD RICHARD WORTH.

                                                  RUSTON
                                                  (angry)
This land had been in my family for generations!

I have more than earned at least part of its return.

                                                  WORTH
                                              (restrained)
Your father's loss of his family lands cannot be so

                    easily undone.

                                                  RUSTON
Easily!? I have been your slave for nearly 10 years.

Ruston slowly moves his hand to a hidden knife.

                                                   WORTH
I took you in as an apprentice when no one else would.

When the King stripped the land from your father and

sentenced him to death, you were disgraced as well. I

offered you a place with me, I made no promises. You

                    have...

                                                   RUSTON
You lie. You made me believe I could regain my family's

                    honor.

                                                    WORTH
Honor, yes. I did not promise any land.

                                                    RUSTON
There is no honor without land!

                                                    WORTH
Your family lands were distributed between Lord Beacon

and myself by the King himself. I am merely the caretaker

for the King. I do not possess the land you consider yours.

It is the King you must reconcile with, not I.

Ruston spits on the floor at Worth's feet.

                                                    RUSTON
                     The King?! He will never...

As Ruston speaks a young man, HORACE KENSINGTON, and young woman, HELEN WORTH enter the room.

                                                    HORACE
                     What's going on?

Worth, who's back is to the doorway, turns his head. Taking advantage of the distraction Ruston pulls out his knife...

Sir Horace Kensington’s belief in his superior abilities is well warranted on the battlefield.  His pompous attitude has kept him from winning the heart of Lord Beacon’s daughter, the Lady Elenore.  His squire Tristan Penny, who fancies himself a poet, attempts to help him win her over.  Matters are complicated when an enemy from  Kensington’s past attempts to take over Beacon’s lands.  Battles in the fields and of the heart  help decide what is mightier, the sword, or the pen.
